ABOUT THE GLENDALE REGIONAL
AIRPORT MASTER PLAN
Glendale Regional Airport (GEU) has played a crucial role in fostering the growth of general aviation in the City of Glendale since opening in 1986. Located five miles west of downtown Glendale and 1.5 miles west of Loop 101, the airport is owned and operated by the City of Glendale. GEU supports a wide variety of general aviation activities, including recreational flying, flight training, business aviation, charter operations, and more. Situated on 477 acres, the airport handles more than 125,000 annual operations and is home to nearly 400 based aircraft. GEU plays a vital role in both business and tourism across the West Valley, connecting these communities to the broader region, strengthening the local economy, and offering convenience for residents and visitors alike.
The FAA requires GEU to maintain an FAA-approved Airport Layout Plan (ALP), which is used to support grant funding for eligible capital projects. The airport’s master plan was last updated in 2009, along with an ALP update and narrative in 2018. The FAA recommends updating these documents every seven to 10 years, or as needed to address changes at the airport and within the aviation industry. The current study process is anticipated to take approximately 18 months to complete, followed by agency reviews and approvals.
The master plan study is being prepared by Coffman Associates, a Pape-Dawson Company and a national aviation consulting firm specializing in airport planning studies, along with several subconsultants contributing to various elements of the process.

PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT
Community involvement is a key part of the master plan process and will include several approaches. Compass Rose Communications will be providing public outreach services, including webpage content, social media content, airport e-newsletters, and press releases.
Planning Advisory Committee
The Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) is a group of airport stakeholders who have been asked to volunteer their time to assist in developing the plan. The PAC will meet four times to review draft chapters prepared by the consultant team. These draft chapters will also be posted on the project website.
Public Information Workshops
Three public information workshops will be held during the study process. Each workshop will be conducted in an open-house format, giving attendees the opportunity to meet with the project team and ask questions. Workshops are typically scheduled in the early evening to make it convenient for people to stop by after work or later in the evening.
Project Webpage and Additional Outreach
Draft chapters of the master plan report will be posted to this project website so community members can follow the study’s progress, review materials, and share comments. Comment sheets will be available at PAC meetings, public information workshops, and comments can be submitted on the “Comment” feature on this website. Community members may also contact project managers via phone or email, contact information is provided below. In addition to the webpage, outreach will include updates through social media channels, e-newsletters and press releases to keep the community informed about key milestones, upcoming meetings, and opportunities to participate.
